Windows Insiders, it’s time for another exciting update from the Dev Channel! Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5600 (KB5058493) has arrived, offering a host of new features, improvements, and fixes to keep your PC running smoothly. As always, this build is part of the Windows 11 version 24H2 rollout, aimed at previewing the next batch of features and enhancements.

In this latest build, Microsoft continues its efforts to enhance the user experience, bringing updates to both Copilot+ PCs and general Windows 11 functionality. Some of the standout features include the introduction of more intelligent text actions, updates to the Settings interface, and much-needed bug fixes.

“This update is part of our ongoing effort to refine Windows 11 and make it even more intuitive and useful for all our Insiders,” says Amanda Langowski, one of the key developers behind the project.

Whether you’re an avid Windows Insider or simply someone looking to stay ahead of the curve, this build has a lot to offer. Let's dive into what's new and what's been fixed!

Key Features and Improvements in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5600

Intelligent Text Actions for Copilot+ PCs

One of the most exciting new features is the enhanced Click to Do functionality for AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs. This update brings intelligent text actions that will make your work easier and more efficient. By using WIN key + mouse-click or WIN + Q, you can select a block of text and instantly choose from various actions like Summarize, Create a bulleted list, or Rewrite the text in a more casual, formal, or polished tone. These features make it easier than ever to refine your text on the fly, all without leaving the app you're working in.

“Click to Do leverages the power of Phi Silica, our on-device Small Language Model (SLM), to provide seamless, instant results right on your PC,” explains Brandon LeBlanc, another member of the Windows Insider team.

This feature is available for English language users and requires a Microsoft or Microsoft Entra account to use. With this new tool, users can improve their workflow and achieve more with fewer clicks.

Dynamic Lighting Improvements

For those with compatible devices, the Dynamic Lighting feature now includes the ability to safely remove hardware directly from the taskbar icon. This update aims to improve user convenience and streamline device management, making it easier to work with lighting-controlled peripherals.

New Agent in Settings

A fresh update is rolling out to the Settings experience, adding a new agent designed to help users find answers to their most common questions. Accessible through Settings > System > About, this FAQs section provides quick insights into system configuration, performance, and compatibility. This addition promises to simplify troubleshooting and system maintenance, ensuring that answers to everyday questions are always just a click away.

Bug Fixes and Known Issues in Build 26200.5600

As with every Insider Preview build, this update also brings several fixes to improve system reliability and performance.

Start Menu Fixes

For users experiencing issues with the Start menu, Build 26200.5600 addresses crashes that have impacted reliability in previous builds. These fixes should ensure a more stable and consistent experience when navigating through the Start menu.

File Explorer and Taskbar Enhancements

If you’ve noticed issues with File Explorer, the new build resolves a deadlock that could occur when loading File Explorer Home, preventing it from hanging. Additionally, the taskbar now has improved behavior for keyboard navigation, fixing a bug that could trap keyboard focus on the taskbar frame, leading to a poor experience for screen readers.

Another important fix is related to Windows Spotlight, where the “learn more about this picture” tooltip now functions correctly and no longer gets stuck above other windows.

Voice Access and Live Captions Fixes

Several issues related to Voice Access have been resolved, including crashes that occurred when using Spanish. Additionally, Live Captions, which had been crashing in the previous build, are now functioning properly, improving accessibility for all users.

Other Notable Fixes

MMC colors have been improved, particularly for selected items and when contrast modes are enabled.

Word and other apps that previously hung when attempting to print have also received a fix.

Users on AMD or Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience longer wait times for intelligent text actions after updating, but this will be addressed in future updates.

Known Issues in This Build

While this build brings a lot of great updates, it also introduces a few known issues that are being actively worked on.

PC Reset Issue: After performing a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, the build version may incorrectly show as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200.

Xbox Controllers: Some users are experiencing bugchecks when using an Xbox controller via Bluetooth. A workaround involves uninstalling the specific driver through Device Manager.

Task Manager and Narrator: Issues with the CPU Utility column and CPU graphs have been reported. Additionally, the Narrator tool may have trouble providing detailed descriptions on Copilot+ PCs.

These issues will be addressed in future updates, and users are encouraged to report any additional problems via the Feedback Hub.

Entra ID Support: AI Tools in Paint and Notepad

For IT-managed PCs in the Canary, Dev, and Beta Channels, Entra ID support is being rolled out to unlock AI-powered features in Paint and Notepad. In Paint, this includes the ability to use Cocreator, a tool that generates images from a combination of a sketch and text prompts, and Generative Fill, which can add new elements to your canvas. In Notepad, users can now quickly summarize or rewrite text content.

This update opens up these AI tools to commercial customers, enabling teams to enhance their creative workflows and increase productivity.
