After a quiet delay and some unexpected drama, the OnePlus Watch 3 has finally made its debut in the U.S. But if you were planning to grab it for the previously expected $330 price tag, you might want to sit down for this one—the device is currently listed at a whopping $499.99 on OnePlus' official website.
That’s not a typo. Or at least, it doesn’t seem to be.
This launch has already been plagued by one comical mishap. Early versions of the OnePlus Watch 3 came with a glaring engraving mistake. Instead of the standard “Made in China,” the text on the back of the device read “Meda in China.” And while that might’ve given Reddit tech threads a good laugh, it was also a quality control red flag.
The company acknowledged the error swiftly, halting shipments and sending apology letters to early buyers. The official U.S. release was pushed to April to correct the blunder—and that part, at least, went to plan.
What no one expected was the new issue that cropped up today: the price.
The OnePlus Watch 3 was supposed to retail for $330—and that’s the number many U.S. buyers had in mind when they refreshed the site this morning. But instead, what showed up was a price tag of $499.99. The inflated price is visible all over the site: on the homepage, the product listing, and even in Google Search snippets.
And no, it’s not a bug. Even when users go to checkout, the price holds strong at $499.99. With the available $30 off coupon (code: TIME1010), it drops to $469.99—still well over the expected price.
“We don't have any additional information to share at this time,” said a OnePlus spokesperson in a statement to Android Police when asked about the pricing confusion.
Part 2 coming up next: We’ll break down the possible reason behind the price hike, explore how tariffs may be impacting tech launches in the U.S., and take a closer look at whether the OnePlus Watch 3 is still worth it despite all the chaos.
